Many people have used voicemail to send voice messages to people who call them. Usually, they are unable to answer the phone, so they record a voice message in advance, and people can listen to that voice message to get or leave information.

Principles
If it is for business, the voice message shall be formal and clear. You would not want to miss the caller’s information. Therefore it is important that you leave clearly your information to them, at the same time, also ask for their contact information.
If it is for private use, it shall be more casual, since people calling you are familiar with you, and you’re familiar with them, too.
